In 1936, George Dickinson Sr. founded the Dickinson Insurance Agency in Longview, Texas. Fourteen years later, Guy Harrison joined the agency and ultimately became managing partner of Dickinson & Harrison Insurance. The firm operated as such until 1993, when the agency was acquired by Shappell & Diebolt, Inc., and changed its name to D&H Insurance Group. The company was then reorganized into four primary product divisions: commercial insurance lines, employee benefits, safety consultant services and personal insurance lines.
